Jealousy. Envy. Selfishness. Pride. Untruth. Greediness. Unfaithfulness. Stupidity.
When crossing a bridge in Budapest at night, it has such a beautiful view. The many bridges, the buildings on the riverside and the Liberty statue on top of Gellért-hegy are all covered in lights. Traditionally Paris is called "City of Light", but for me it's Budapest.A week ago I was in the crowd in the protest against the taxation of the internet and we were walking across Erzsébet-bridge. There was an article (maybe the Reuters one) which said that when the people in the crowd reached the middle of the bridge - where the road is highest - they were able to see the crown in front of them and behind them, knowing that they are the majority and by working together, they could reach the common goal.
For me the taxation of the internet is an issue of principles. Internet is a free medium. It is on of the most important invention of humanity. It has the ability to connect all people on Earth and even beyond. On the internet everyone is equal (in theory). The internet can bring endless possibilities to people. If everyone had access to the internet in a country, direct democracy could easily be achieved. If only those with power would have selfless thoughts...
I am saddened by the Hungarian governments that have been leading the country since 1990. Most politicians are in the Parliament not because they want to change the world. Not because they want to leave a better system, give a better life, better chances to everyone, but because they want to leave a better financial state, a better life and better chances to their own friends and family. Watching a television broadcast about the parliament is just shameful. There are only a few representatives present. They want our votes, but after that they are not representing us. It is outrageous. If we had a good and working system, they would not get an other vote ever again.
Minister. This word means servant, attendant, originated from Latin word minister. Why don't I feel that our ministers are serving us? I can safely say that Hungarians feel that we are being siphoned of our money by the state. Not only people, but companies too. And we barely get any services for our money back. Health care s*cks. There are month-long lists for routine surgeries. I would rather not pay the "TB" and get my money and visit a private doctor. Who would pay for shitty service?
This is our reality. And we are waiting for a miracle rather than working for one. No one wants to take responsibility for our failure.
You can always hear that we need a change.
I say we don't need a change, but we need to change, because the "sült galamb" won't fly into our mouths. We need values and stick to them and demand them from other, especially those who have power, because they are in front of everyone. They show example and when the example they show is bad, then how can you expect for any good to come out of it?
Honesty. Faithfulness. Integrity. Modesty. Reliability. Selflessness. Goodness. Wisdom.
